Common questions before you get started

You've got questions. We've got answers.

What happens after I sign up?

Once you sign up for your IRS Investigation & Case Evaluation, our team will add you to your personalized, secure client portal. Inside the portal, you will sign your engagement letter, provide your tax authorization if you have not already completed it, and upload any letters or notices you have received from the IRS. Once we have completed the investigation and prepared your recommended action plan, you will use the portal to schedule your consultation with us. During that meeting, we will walk you through what we found, explain your options in plain language, and review the next steps for resolving your IRS matter.

What if I have a State tax issue?

If you have both an IRS issue and a State tax issue, we can add a State Investigation & Case Evaluation for an additional $500 per State. Our federal tax credential allows us to represent taxpayers before the IRS nationwide, so we can help with federal IRS matters in all 50 states. State tax agencies have their own rules and representation requirements, so we will confirm the appropriate scope for your specific State matter however our license does allows us to have authorization in all Stats.

If your issue is State-only, visit the À La Carte Services section at the bottom of this page and choose State Investigation & Case Evaluation.

For State cases, we follow the same four-step framework: 1) Investigation & Case Evaluation, 2) get compliant when applicable, 3) assess your ability to pay and available resolution options, and 4) complete the case with a payment or resolution solution that fits the circumstances.

How long does the IRS Investigation & Case Evaluation take?

The investigation can take as little as a few days or up to 14 days, depending largely on how quickly we receive your tax authorization. If you already have an IRS online account, authorization can be as simple as clicking a few buttons in your account. If you do not have an IRS online account, no problem — we will provide an authorization form for you to complete. That authorization method can take up to 14 days to process before we can access the IRS information needed to evaluate your case. The sooner your authorization is completed, the sooner we can get to work finding out exactly what is happening with your IRS account.

Can you guarantee that the IRS will stop collections?

No tax professional can guarantee a specific IRS outcome. When the facts and IRS procedures allow it, we can request available collection protection or a temporary hold while working the case. The exact options depend on your account status.

What if I have several years of unfiled tax returns?

That is exactly why the investigation comes first. We identify the filing gaps and available IRS information so we can map the right order for getting you back into compliance

What if I am being audited?

We can evaluate the audit issue, deadlines, and documentation needs, then determine the scope of representation required. Audit representation after the investigation may require an additional engagement.

Will the $997 resolve my entire IRS problem?

The $997 covers Step 1: your IRS Investigation & Case Evaluation. It is designed to uncover the facts and determine the correct strategy. If your case requires additional filing, financial analysis, audit representation, negotiation, or payment-plan work, Steps 2–4 are offered as a separate bundled engagement. We discuss the recommended scope and investment with you at the conclusion of the evaluation, and no additional work begins until you agree and complete payment.

Can I speak with you before paying for the Case Evaluation?

Yes. If you need a conversation first for peace of mind, you can book a call. We can explain our process, answer general questions, and help you decide whether we are the right fit. The call is not a substitute for the IRS Investigation & Case Evaluation. Until we obtain and review your IRS account information, any discussion about your exact outcome, payment amount, collection risk, or resolution option would only be speculation.

I am embarrassed that I waited this long. Is it too late?

Waiting can limit options, but avoiding the problem usually makes it harder. The right move is to find out exactly where the account stands now and address the most urgent issue first.
